Fouquet
Jean Fouquet (ca.1420-1480) Fouquet was the most important 15th-century, French painter and he worked at the court of Charles VII. His style was based on that of the Flemish Van Eyck brothers. The right wing of this diptych that he painted for the Notre-Dame de Melun depicts the Madonna and Child in an unusual blue, white and red; the colours of the royal family. The woman looks conspicuously like Agnès Sorel, the royal concubine, who died two years before.
