William Morris (1834-1896) William Morris is considered the father of the influential 19th-century Arts and Crafts movement that rejected the industrial, mass production of classically styled utilitarian and decorative objects. As a designer he argued passionately in favour of the return of craftsmanship to the applied arts. Improved labour conditions would then help create more beautiful products due to increased passion.
