René Windig is known for his humorous style that evokes a childlike sense of wonder while touching the heart of every art lover.
Together with Eddie de Jong, he formed the iconic duo Windig & De Jong, best known for the comic strip Heinz: the witty, surreal newspaper cartoon about a lazy red cat. During the 1980s and 1990s, Heinz became a true cultural icon in the Netherlands, beloved for its absurd humor and playful, almost naïve drawing style.
Windig’s distinctive bird designs can be found not only on paper but also as cheerful miniature sculptures, produced by Parastone. With their colorful feathers, curious expressions, and imaginative shapes, they seem to have flown straight out of a dream.
